Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 October 2026
1. Who we are
House Of 18th Jewellery is a small jewellery business based in Latvia. When you buy from this website, your contract is with us:
House Of 18th Jewellery
Ošu gatve 11, Aizpute, LV-3456, Latvia
Email: houseof18th@gmail.com
Not VAT-registered
The store runs on Shopify, but Shopify is not the seller. Your purchase is made with us.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply when you use this website and when you buy from it. They sit alongside our Refund Policy, Shipping Policy and Privacy Policy, which are part of the same agreement.
If you are buying as a consumer, nothing here takes away the rights you have under Latvian and EU consumer law. Where these terms and the law disagree, the law wins.
3. Our jewellery
Most of our pieces are one of a kind. The stones are natural, cut and set by hand, so colour, size and setting can differ slightly from the photos. That is how natural stone and hand-setting work, not a defect.
Every product page tells you the metal, the finish, the stones, whether a stone is treated, and the size (ring sizes are given as EU size plus inner diameter). Screens show colour differently, so if a detail matters to you, email us before you buy and we'll answer honestly.
Gold-plated pieces are 925 sterling silver with a layer of 18ct gold. Plating is a finish and wears over time. How quickly depends on how you wear the piece. Normal wear of plating is not a fault.
4. Prices
All prices are in euros and are final. We are not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you pay.
Orders delivered outside the EU may be charged customs duties or import fees by the destination country. Those are set by that country and paid by you.
If a price on the site is clearly a mistake (for example €5 instead of €55), we'll contact you before shipping and you can choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
5. Placing an order
When you place an order, you make an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation email. Because most pieces exist only once, if two people order the same piece at the same moment, the first completed payment gets it, and we refund the other order in full straight away.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your country, to place an order.
6. Payment
You pay at checkout using the methods shown there. We don't see or store your full card details; payments are processed by our payment providers.
7. Delivery
We hand your order to the courier within 72 hours of payment. Delivery times are in our Shipping Policy. If your order hasn't arrived within 30 days, you can cancel it and get a full refund.
The risk of loss or damage passes to you when you, or someone you name, receive the parcel. If it is lost or arrives damaged before then, that's our problem, not yours.
8. Your right to change your mind
As a consumer in the EU, you have 14 days from the day you receive your order to withdraw from the purchase, without giving a reason. To do this, email houseof18th@gmail.com with your order number. You can also use the model withdrawal form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to.
How returns and refunds work (address, timing, what we refund) is set out in our Refund Policy.
This right does not apply to:
- items made or engraved to your specification
- earrings whose hygiene seal has been broken after delivery, because they can't be resold for health reasons
9. Faulty pieces and the legal guarantee
Every piece is checked before it leaves us. Under Latvian and EU law, you also have a legal guarantee: if a product does not match its description or has a defect that existed at delivery, you can claim within 2 years of delivery. In the first year, we assume the defect was already there unless we can show otherwise.
If that happens, email us with a photo. We'll repair or replace the piece, or refund you if repair or replacement isn't possible, and we pay postage both ways.
Damage from accidents, misuse, or normal wear (including plating wearing thin, or silver tarnishing) is not a defect.
10. Using this website
You can browse and buy for your own personal use. Please don't copy our photos, product texts or designs for commercial use without asking us in writing first.
Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to read and recommend our products, as long as they follow our robots.txt and identify themselves honestly. Automated tools that overload the site, scrape it to copy our content, or try to get around security measures are not allowed.
11. Our content
Photos, product descriptions, the House Of 18th Jewellery name and logo belong to us. Buying a piece doesn't give you any rights to them.
12. Personal data
How we collect and use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Our liability
We are responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or acting negligently. We are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses (you're buying for personal use).
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your rights as a consumer.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one on this page when you placed it.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Latvian law. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country, and you can bring a claim in your own courts.
If something goes wrong, email us first; we'd rather sort it out directly. If we can't agree, consumers in Latvia can contact the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC) at www.ptac.gov.lv, and consumers in other EU countries can contact their national consumer authority or the European Consumer Centre in their country.
