The quiet one in the set. It goes with everything.
Then it catches the light sideways and stops being quiet.
What this charm is
The moonstone charm from House Of 18th Jewellery is a faceted 4x6mm oval moonstone in a full bezel setting of 925 sterling silver plated in 18ct gold, stamped 925. An oversized oval loop sits above the stone so the charm slides onto a chain without tools. The charm is sold on its own. Chains are sold separately, and any chain bought with a charm is €5 off.
What is moonstone?
Moonstone is a feldspar mineral that rates 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Moonstone's glow, called adularescence, comes from thin alternating layers of two feldspars inside the stone that scatter light. Moonstone is usually untreated.
Why a faceted moonstone
Moonstone is usually cut as a smooth dome, which shows a soft rolling glow. Faceting moonstone swaps that glow for flashes of light as the stone moves. A faceted moonstone sits next to the other faceted House Of 18th Jewellery charms as a clear, neutral stone, and it goes with all of them.
Which chain to wear it on
The 40cm snake chain is 1mm wide and carries several charms at once. The 45cm dainty chain is 0.25mm wide and made for one charm worn alone. Add either chain to the cart with this charm and €5 comes off the chain automatically at checkout.
How to care for moonstone and gold plating
Moonstone has cleavage, meaning the crystal can split along flat internal planes if it takes a sharp knock. Take the moonstone charm off for sport, gardening and heavy work. Keep it away from perfume, chlorine and cleaning products to protect the 18ct gold plating. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it alone in a closed pouch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is moonstone made of? Moonstone is a feldspar mineral. Moonstone's glow comes from layers of two different feldspars inside the crystal that scatter light.
Is moonstone treated? Moonstone is generally sold untreated, and the light effect is natural to the stone.
What does 18ct gold-plated mean? 18ct gold-plated means a layer of 18-carat gold (75% pure gold) is bonded over 925 sterling silver. "18ct" describes the purity of the gold plating, not the carat weight of the stone.
Is moonstone too soft for daily wear? Moonstone rates 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and can split if knocked hard. A pendant is the safest way to wear moonstone, because a pendant takes far fewer knocks than a ring.
Which chain fits the charm? Both House Of 18th Jewellery chains fit: the 40cm snake chain and the 45cm dainty chain. Buying a chain together with a charm takes €5 off the chain.
