What is strawberry quartz?

Strawberry quartz is a natural quartz variety containing inclusions of iron oxide or mica, which give the stone a pink to red colour with visible internal flecks. Because the inclusions form naturally, every strawberry quartz stone has a distinct pattern. Strawberry quartz measures 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it durable enough for everyday jewellery.

How to care for 18ct gold-plated sterling silver

Gold-plated sterling silver jewellery lasts longest when kept away from perfume, hairspray, chlorine and prolonged water contact. Remove the ring before swimming, showering or applying cosmetics. Store the ring dry in a soft pouch to prevent surface abrasion. Clean with a dry soft cloth only, polishing cloths and silver dips remove gold plating.

How long the gold plating lasts

Gold plating is a finish, not a material. With daily wear it typically holds for one to two years before it begins to show thinning at high-contact points — the underside of a band, the back of a pendant — and considerably longer on pieces that come off before water, perfume and sleep.
